Flexible black polyethylene pipe for bores, pipe bursting, force mains and water lines, joined by heat fusion into one continuous line.
High-density polyethylene, or HDPE, is a flexible pipe that is fused into long, leak-free strings. It can bend around curves, be pulled through bores and survive ground movement that would crack a rigid pipe. That makes it the standard choice for directional drilling and pipe bursting.
Pieces are joined by heat fusion, not glue or gaskets. A fusion machine heats the pipe ends and presses them together to form a joint as strong as the pipe. Operators follow set times and pressures, and a good fusion bead is a mark of good work. Because HDPE is not magnetic, tracer wire is added so it can be located.

Yellow gas-rated polyethylene is used for gas by qualified crews. Water and sewer HDPE is different, and gas work follows utility rules.
