Manhole and Structure Installation

Precast manholes, junction boxes, inlets and vaults set at the right elevation, sealed and ready for traffic and service.

Manholes are access points into the system that must last for decades under traffic. They are heavy, precise structures, and setting them badly leads to leaking joints, rocking lids and sunken rings that thump under every passing car.

We excavate, build a level, compacted stone base, set precast sections with the correct seals, connect pipes with proper boots and set the frame and cover to finished grade. Inverts are shaped, joints are sealed and the structure is tested where required. We also install inlets, junction boxes and other precast structures to the plans.

A level, firm base

The first section sets the geometry for the whole structure. We compact and level the base so every ring stacks plumb and every joint stays tight.

Seals and pipe connections

Leaks at the pipe or the joints let groundwater into sewers and soil into the structure. Gaskets, boots and sealants are installed per the manufacturer and tested where required.

Frames at finished grade

A cover set too low collects water, set too high it catches plows and tires. We set it to the finished surface with the right adjustment rings and grout.

Keeping covers quiet

A cover that rattles under traffic usually has a poor seat. Setting frames on a full bed of mortar or grout, with clean seating surfaces, keeps them quiet and level.

Questions

Manholes and Structures FAQ

Do you supply the structures?

Often the project supplies or specifies them. We can coordinate delivery and set them.

How deep can you set a manhole?

Depth depends on the design and safety. We shore and use the equipment the depth requires.

Can you raise a sunken manhole cover?

Yes. We adjust the frame to the finished grade with rings and grout.

How do you test a manhole?

Vacuum or water tests are typical for sewer structures. We support the test as the project requires.

Why does a manhole cover bang?

A worn or poorly seated frame is the usual cause. Adjusting the frame fixes it.
