Sewer Tap and Cleanout Installation

Connections to the public sewer and cleanouts at the house and property line that make future service quick and affordable.

A cleanout is a simple fitting that makes a big difference. It gives a plumber a place to run a cable or camera without pulling a toilet or digging up the yard. Many older homes have none, and a missing cleanout often turns a ten minute clog into an expensive afternoon.

We install cleanouts at the house, at the property line and at bends, with risers brought up to grade and protected by a lid or valve box. We also prepare and make sewer connections: the tap into the main or a manhole, the wye and the line to the property, built to the utility requirements.

Where cleanouts belong

Good access means a cleanout near the house, another at the property line and one at long runs or changes in direction. We place them where they will be found and used.

Connecting to the main

Tapping a sewer main is not a casual cut. The utility sets the method, the fitting and the inspection. We prepare the excavation and coordinate the tap.

Lids that last

A cleanout cap in the lawn needs a protective box rated for the location, set flush so mowers pass over and traffic does not crush the riser.

Mark your cleanout

A cleanout nobody can find is nearly as bad as none. We leave it in a visible, protected location, and you can mark it with a small stake or note so plumbers find it fast.

Questions

Sewer Taps and Cleanouts FAQ

Do I need a cleanout?

Many places require one on new construction, and every house benefits from one. It makes service faster and cheaper.

Can you add a cleanout to an old line?

Yes. We excavate a small area, cut in the fitting and bring the riser to grade.

Who makes the connection at the main?

The utility often performs or approves the tap. We prepare the site and coordinate.

Will a cleanout cap be in the way?

We set it flush in a lid or box so it stays out of the way of mowing and foot traffic.

Where should a cleanout be?

Near the house, at the property line and at major bends, brought up to grade and covered with a lid.
