Tap preparation, meter boxes and meter settings built to the utility standard so your new service connects without delays.
The tap and meter are where your private line meets the public system. Utilities have strict standards for how that connection is built, and an incorrect meter box or the wrong depth can send an inspector home and push your schedule back by weeks.
We prepare the connection area to the utility details: the trench at the main, the tap saddle or corporation stop location, the service line to the box and a level, protected meter box with the correct setter. Where the utility installs its own meter, we make sure the box and line are ready to receive it.
Each utility has its own detail drawings for boxes, setters and depths. We work from the details for your provider and ask early when something is unclear.
Meter boxes sink and tilt if they sit on soft fill. We set them on firm stone and match the final grade so mowers and snow do not catch the lid.
The utility often has to be present for the tap itself. We coordinate the day, keep the trench open and safe and have materials ready so the visit is short.
A meter box in the wrong place or at the wrong depth can delay a whole project. Checking the utility drawing at the start costs a few minutes and can save a failed inspection and a second trench.

We can relocate it. It usually involves a short trench and fittings, and we coordinate with the utility.
The tap itself is quick. Scheduling around the utility is usually the longest part.
