Locating, exposing and repairing broken water mains with clamps, couplings or replacement sections, then restoring the street or yard.
Water main breaks happen when pipe ages, soil shifts, temperature swings or something strikes the line. The signs are a geyser, a sudden pool, a sinkhole or a loss of pressure for a whole block. The work is urgent and large, and it needs equipment as much as skill.
We excavate around the break, shore the trench to keep it safe in running water, pump the hole and expose the pipe so the section can be repaired. Repair clamps, sleeves and replacement spools are used according to the pipe type and damage. Once the line is repaired, it is flushed and disinfected as the utility requires, and the street or yard is backfilled and restored.
A break floods the trench. Pumps and shoring keep the excavation safe, and a good crew stays ahead of the water so the repair can be made properly.
Cast iron cracks differently than PVC or ductile iron. Clamps, couplings or spools are chosen to match the pipe and the failure.
Mains must be flushed and disinfected after repair to keep the system safe. The utility sets the procedure, and we support it. Then comes backfill and pavement.
After a main break, the utility may issue a notice to boil water. Follow it until it is lifted, even if the water looks clear.

The water utility is responsible for public mains. Private mains on commercial or development property are the owner responsibility, and we repair those.
It depends on pipe size, depth and water. Many are completed in a day, with restoration to follow.
Soil movement from freezing and thawing and temperature swings stress old pipe.
Mains are flushed and disinfected as required. Follow the utility advisories.
