Sewer Line Installation

Gravity sewer lines laid to a steady, correct slope with clean joints, cleanouts and structures built to last for generations.

A sewer line works with gravity, not pressure, which makes it unforgiving. If the pipe dips even slightly, solids settle and a clog is only a matter of time. If the slope is too steep, liquids can outrun solids. The grade has to be right all the way, and it has to stay right after the trench is backfilled.

We install sewer lines for new homes, commercial buildings and developments. Trenches are cut to depth, the pipe is laid on a firm bed to line and grade using a laser or grade rod, joints are checked and cleanouts and structures are placed where the plans require. Testing and inspection happen before the pipe is covered.

Grade is everything

We set a laser or string line and check the fall as the pipe goes in. A line laid to the right slope keeps flowing for decades without sags or belly sections.

Bedding and backfill

Pipe needs even support under and around it. Clean stone bedding and layered backfill keep the pipe round and in place when traffic and soil load it.

Cleanouts and access

Cleanouts at the right places make future maintenance simple and inexpensive. We set them at the property line, the house and bends, brought up to finished grade.

Keeping roots out

Roots enter through loose joints. Modern gasketed PVC joints seal well, and clean bedding keeps them in place. Choosing plantings away from the line adds protection.

Questions

Sewer Line Installation FAQ

What pipe do you use for sewer lines?

PVC is common today, and ductile iron is used in some situations. Local rules and the plans decide the pipe and fittings.

How steep does a sewer line need to be?

Slope requirements depend on pipe size and local code. We build to the design and check the grade throughout.

Do you connect to the public sewer?

We make the private connection and coordinate the tap with the utility where needed.

Can sewer lines go uphill?

Not by gravity. If the house is below the sewer, a grinder or ejector pump system may be required, and we can install the line it needs.

Will roots grow into a new sewer line?

Tight modern joints resist roots far better than old clay pipe. Keeping large trees away from the line helps further.
