Lift Station and Pump Line Installation

Wet wells, pump chambers, force mains and control cabinets that move sewage uphill where gravity cannot.

Not every property can drain by gravity. A low lot, a basement below the street sewer or a hill between the building and the main calls for a lift station. A pump in a buried chamber lifts sewage into a pressurized force main that carries it to where gravity takes over.

We excavate and set precast wet wells, install pumps, valves and piping as specified, build the force main, set control cabinets on their pads and install the conduit. Pump selection, electrical wiring and controls are handled by the designer and qualified electrical and mechanical crews, and we coordinate with them to deliver a station that starts up correctly.

Wet wells set right

A wet well is a large, deep, heavy structure. It needs a level base, careful setting, proper sealing and ballast against flotation in high groundwater.

Force mains are pressure pipe

Unlike gravity sewer, the force main is under pressure. Joints, restraint and testing follow pressure pipe standards, with air release and cleanout valves where the plan shows.

Plan for service

Pumps eventually need service. Access hatches, lifting points and valves are set so crews can maintain the station without tearing it apart.

Power outages and alarms

A lift station without power cannot pump. Alarms, standby power or storage volume protect against overflows, and the designer sets what the station needs.

Questions

Lift Stations and Pump Lines FAQ

Do you install the pumps?

Pump supply and startup come from the project team or a pump supplier. We install the structure, piping and the underground work.

What is a force main?

A pressurized sewer pipe that carries pumped sewage to a point where gravity can take over.

Do lift stations smell?

A properly built and vented station has little odor. Ventilation and sealing are part of the design.

Can a small home use a lift station?

Smaller grinder or ejector systems exist for homes. They are different from a municipal lift station but use the same principle.

What happens in a power outage?

Stations are designed with alarms and storage or standby power, as the plans specify.
