Trenches and conduit for phone, internet and cable TV lines, including pedestal bases and service drops to buildings.
Overhead phone and cable lines are exposed to storms, trucks and trees. Burying them cleans up the property and makes service more reliable. Communication lines are shallower than power or gas, but they still need to be placed carefully to stay out of other utilities and out of the path of the next shovel.
We trench service drops from the pedestal or pole to the building, install conduit where specified, set pedestal bases and restore the surface. For new developments, we install common trenches that carry several services at once, with the separation required between them.
In new developments, power, communications and sometimes gas share a trench with measured separation. That saves digging and keeps the right clearances.
Service drops are short but fussy. They need a protected entry into the building and a neat route that stays out of the lawn that will be mowed and the drives that will be paved.
Pedestals and ground boxes sit at the edge of the lot. We set them level, on stone, with conduit stubs ready for the provider.
Shallow communication lines are the ones most often cut by fence posts and landscaping. Calling 811 before any project, even a small one, is the simplest protection.
